About

Hello, I’m Mark Cowart. I was born in Killeen, Texas, and spent the first ten years of my life in Texas before my family moved to Colorado in 1968. My dad ran a butcher shop, and I would ride along with my mom on her paper route. Some of my best memories growing up were out on my grandparents’ farm in Texas. I loved being there; something about the wide open spaces and the simple life just stuck with me. My grandma was a woman of faith, and when I was young, she would often rock me on the front porch and pray over me. As she prayed, she sensed strongly that God would one day call me to be a preacher. This was never part of my plan, but as time went on, I felt the leading of the Holy Spirit to enroll in Bible college. After completing Bible college, I returned to Colorado, and in 1983, I began attending “Faith Christian Fellowship: A Church Alive.” There, I met my wife, Linda. We jumped in headfirst, serving anywhere they needed help – ushering, cleaning, teaching, you name it.

It was during these years that we learned the value and importance of being faithful in the small things. We continued serving faithfully, and over time, we were entrusted with leadership roles within the church. In 1987, I was asked to step in as Senior Pastor. At that point, Linda and I were newly married, brand-new parents, and suddenly leading a church. We didn’t realize that such a great demand would be placed on us to lead a local church. We didn’t realize that such a great demand would be placed on us to lead a local church. It was a stormy beginning to our journey, but God had a plan. During this time, Linda and I made a firm decision to stay faithful and keep showing up, no matter the challenges we were facing. I often found myself listening to my pastor, Dr. Lester Sumrall’s message “I Did Not Quit” over and over. One close friend shared with me that you can acquire wisdom in two ways: one way is by learning from other’s mistakes, and the other is by attending the school of hard knocks, which we learned from both.

Looking back, I can say without a doubt that God is faithful. I love the Lord, I love this nation, and I’ve got a fire in my heart to see the gospel reach the world. If God can take a small-town Texas boy like me and do something with my life, He can do the same for you. I’d love for you to join me as we dig into the Word together and discover the truths that will bring transformation to your life.
