In some ways, the walk of faith can be illustrated in terms of aviation. In the aerodynamics of flight, there are four laws or forces acting on the flying object. These are lift and gravity (opposing one another) and thrust and drag (also opposed). Beyond the physics at work, the pilot must be aware of a number of changing factors in the whole process of a safe flight.
Similarly, you and I need to take stock of where we are right now in life, in order to successfully navigate through the spiritual warfare all around us. The Spirit of God is leading you in paths of righteousness. But, if you happen to get off course, you want to know it and change direction. Out from under God’s covering, the enemy has access to your life and will bring chaos and destruction.
With this in mind, it is a good idea to take stock of how this could happen to you – your weak areas, your vulnerabilities. You cannot delegate your life’s warfare to someone else. We certainly pray for one another, but beyond that you are responsible to be aware of what’s going on in your life, to manage your assignments in the Kingdom of God and to stay on course.
Part of that maintenance is to identify your vulnerabilities. First of all, let’s explore the meaning of that a little bit more. The ancient definition of “vulnerability” is a battle wound that leaves you open to future wounding. Ignoring it will not make it go away. In fact, that would be like the pilot of our airplane ignoring the warning readings on its gauges – this will result in disaster. So, you need to check your systems to “keep” yourself (I John 5:18), so “…the wicked one does not touch…” you.
In modern usage, “vulnerability” is more of an emotional or systemic weak spot. I’m talking about any area of your life in which the devil could take you out of action. For example, if you neglect a health condition that could be medically addressed to some degree, while you are on the way to complete divine healing, you give the enemy an opportunity to take you out. I’ve seen it happen. Physical health could be a vulnerability.
Another area to be considered is finances. When we are not operating by biblical principles it could lead to potentially-crippling weakness in this area. Or what about your marriage? Your family? Your close friends? You can probably see where this is going. It is imperative that each one of us gets before the Lord to inventory our current life for vulnerabilities and shut those doors to demonic invasion. In these last days, the consequences of neglecting this could be dire.
REFLECT
1) Take the time to get quiet before the Lord, with no distractions, ask Holy Spirit to help you identify the vulnerable areas in your life.
2) Write down what is revealed to you, listening attentively for His voice.
3) As these areas are revealed, dig into the Word of God for direction on how to secure these areas.
4) Connect with trusting people in your life who can help you along the journey to strengthening these vulnerable areas and shutting the enemy out.
PRAY
– Thank God for His Word and His Spirit that will guide you into all truth.
– Ask for wisdom and direction to identify your vulnerabilities and close those doors to the enemy.
– Thank God that no weapon formed against you shall prosper and that He has given you
everything pertaining to life and godliness.
