The Church is not a building. It is people. It is you and me, called by Jesus for His purpose.
At the center of that purpose is the Great Commission. This is not simply something we do. It is why we exist. Jesus said to go and make disciples of all nations. This is our assignment. Along with that calling, He has given us the keys of the Kingdom. Without these keys, we will not walk in the fullness of what He has for us.
Jesus made it clear:
First, love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Second, love your neighbor as yourself.
Everything in the Christian life flows from this. When we truly love God, we do not treat His Word as information. We receive it as life. Scripture is living and active. As we read, study, and meditate, the written Word becomes alive in us. This is where faith is formed and strengthened.
Many struggle because their thoughts are shaped more by worry than by the Word. As we learn to meditate on Scripture, our hearts begin to align with God. Jesus spoke of those who honored Him with their lips while their hearts were far from Him. The world is not expecting perfection, but it does recognize inconsistency.
For many people, your life will be their clearest picture of the Gospel.
This is why the Great Commandment and the Great Commission cannot be separated. As we love God, He shapes our hearts. As we love people, doors open for the Gospel to be shared. Often this begins with simple faithfulness. Building relationships. Showing care. Being present. The Gospel is not only spoken. It is lived.
Jesus said that He is the vine and we are the branches. Apart from Him, we can do nothing.
Our effectiveness comes from our connection to Him.
We abide in Him by remaining in His Word, allowing it to shape our thinking, and responding in obedience. Over time, what He is doing in us will begin to flow through us.
Jesus said that He would build His Church and that the gates of hell would not prevail against it. The Church is called to move forward, not retreat. We are to carry truth and light into a world that needs both. The early Church lived this way even in the face of opposition, because they were rooted in Christ and filled with His Spirit.
That same Spirit is at work in us today.
The Lord is drawing His people back to what matters most. A life rooted in His Word. A heart fully devoted to Him. A steady commitment to love others well.
As we return to these things, we will find clarity in our calling and strength for the work He has given us.
PRAY
- Lord, help me to love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
- Teach me to remain in Your Word and to walk in obedience.
- Give me a genuine love for the people You have placed around me.
- Order my steps so that my life reflects Your purpose.
- Keep my heart from distraction and draw me back when I drift.

- Am I loving God with my whole heart or holding parts back?
- Is God’s Word shaping my daily life, or only something I visit occasionally?

- Am I abiding in Christ or relying on my own strength?
- What step of obedience is the Lord putting before me today?
